Meaning of Reishinkan
Our dojo’s name, 鈴心館 (Reishinkan), is derived from 双鶴鈴心館 (Sokaku Reishinkan) where Usami Sensei started training at the age of seven in Kyoto, Japan.
It refers to the elegant and peaceful poise of two cranes; as harmonious as the sound of a Japanese wind chime in a gentle breeze. The beauty of Kendo is to be found in the expression, 活人剣(Katsujin ken or ‘sword to live’) or the mind with no arrogance.
